the largest + most comprehensive exhibition on the subject ever staged. the exhibition explores the foundation + meaning of modernism, + it contains some of the most seminal works of modern art, graphic + product design, + architecture produced in the 1st half of the 20th century. it traces the historic development of modern form through social, industrial, + political upheavals of the 1920s + 1930s. it investigates the role of the factory + mass production; the spiritual aspect of modern life; the period’s fascination with the healthy body + organic forms found in nature; + national identity.

consumer electronic show 2007 :: hello kitty

hello kitty has a computer mouse, televisions, dvd players, digital camera, cd player, electric guitar, sewing machine, toaster, popcorn maker, coffee maker(???), watches, clock radio, humidifier, furniture, shower radio, shower curtains...
you can get a lot of hello kitty electronics + home appliances at target. i got mod*tot the waffle maker. it's cute, but it makes 4 tiny waffles instead of 1 big waffle.

adorable panda robot has head-mounted sensors, stereo sound, + tells bedtime stories. i hope robopanda has a cuter voice than their robosapien junior we got mod*tot last christmas. robosapien junior has a scary man's voice instead of a cute child's voice.

home to the future :: exhibit jan 17-feb 6 :: time warner center nyc
you can visit the exhibition in nyc or take a tour online at hometothefuture
update: i got all excited about the title, but this is just a showcase of time warner's digital technology for television, telephone + internet. i wish they had it designed with furnishings of the future! i'm still hoping the "connected house" being built at disneyland in tomorrowland will be a real house of the future.

time to squeeze your lemons + go to lemonland for breast cancer info.
this week i asked a ucsf oncologist whether i should try to get heart drugs + try to complete my 52-week regimen of herceptin (drug infusions to prevent cancer recurrence by 50%). surprisingly, she said no. i wasn't ready for that answer. my first oncologist, who recently retired after 30 years, stressed to me that "prevention is the name of the game" + you need to take herceptin. he started me again on the drug after it made my heart ejection fraction percent drop in to the 30s last july (you need a transplant in the 20s). my current oncologist advised continuing herceptin with the aid of heart drugs, but said she understands if i don't want to risk more heart damage + discontinue herceptin. so now i've got conflicting advice from 2 doctors + "pick either choice" advice from another doctor...

my dazzling mod sparkly tissue boxes are empty. i got them at home depot. i feel guilty about using so much kleenex for my running nose + eyes. i know it's a wasteful product that consumes too many trees, uses too many harmful chemicals to process + bleach it white. there must be a better solution than a stack of cloth hankies to launder. the same with diaper wipes i'm so addicted to. i bet somebody like the makers of gdiapers or treehugger has some good ideas...

january is my 1 year blog anniversary + breast cancer diagnosis.
i'd just weaned mod*tot + was used to no sleep, so i thought i'd blog what we were up to + things we liked. later in the month, i got a huge lump checked + it was breast cancer. i'd had a mammagram + ultrasound the year before + the radiologist said the lump was "part of something else" + when it grew i thought it was a clogged milk duct (i saw a character on grey's anatomy with the same situation recently). i miss my breast. i'm grateful i have one left + i'm alive + i got to breastfeed mod*tot.
