mod*mom oscars giveaway :: 10 roxio vhs to dvd software/hardware digitizers $600 i'm so excited i'm going to the oscar's gifting suites next week with mod*tot + roxio is sponsoring a mod*mom giveaway to introduce my pals to their new product that will save your treasured favorite movies, since vcr's + tapes are becoming obsolete. Roxio Launches Easy VHS to DVD Helps Families Revive, Relive, and Preserve Cherished Personal Video Memories and Entertainment Roxio's latest consumer application, Roxio Easy VHS to DVD is a combination of software and hardware that enables users to quickly digitize analog recordings stored on VHS tapes. The product is available now direct from Roxio for $59.99 and will be introduced later this month in retail stores worldwide. Roxio Easy VHS to DVD also enables consumers to transfer their favorite collections of LPs and tapes onto CDs or portable players. Users simply attach the included hardware to their high-speed USB 2.0 port, then capture from virtually any analog video or audio source. S-Video and composite video inputs enable full-resolution DVD recording from VCRs, VCR/DVD combo players, and analog camcorders including Hi8 and V8 models. Easy VHS to DVD includes Wizards for automatically capturing and converting analog video directly to DVD and for automatically labeling audio tracks captured from LPs or tapes with artist, song, and album information. Easy VHS to DVD comes equipped with a full-featured video editor that enables users to apply filters to correct video quality, rearrange or remove unwanted video segments, and spice things up with a range of transitions, titles and effects. Video and audio can be easily converted and exported for optimal playback on a range of mobile devices including iPods, iPhones, and PSPs or prepared for posting and sharing via online services or social networking sites. The product also includes an innovative DVD authoring application complete with professionally designed templates that enable users to easily create personalized DVDs with motion menus, menu-to-menu transitions, animated buttons and custom navigation. With the included express labeler, users can also create personalized disc and case artwork. VHS tapes can last 10 to 20 years in ideal conditions; however, heat, humidity and improper storage cause videotapes to deteriorate, which degrades the magnetic particles and can lead to failure. Converting analog content to a digital form stops the deterioration and preserves the content for generations. The CEA reported that as of January 2007, 85% of households still had VCRs in the home. The number dropped to 70% in January 2008. With VCRs quickly becoming obsolete, it’s important for families to have a plan for preserving precious memories of key events that are currently on VHS tape. “Whether it’s aging footage of weddings, baby’s first steps, reunions and other special family moments or collections of classic TV episodes, movies and concerts, the clock is ticking on massive amounts of irreplaceable analog video and audio recordings. With Easy VHS to DVD, we’ve made it point-and-click easy for families to preserve, rediscover, revive, and relive this content on PC, DVD, or mobile devices.” to enter to win a roxio vhs to dvd digitizer, tell me in the comments, which features are your favorites + favorite movie? Favorite feature: throwing away bulky old tapes
My favorite feature is getting rid of all the VHS tapes that take up so much space and can only be used in one room of my house (the only room with a VHS player anymore). I would LOVE this! By Katina Sharp, at 2/10/2009 11:43 AM Oops--forgot to include my favorite movie. It is Evita. By Katina Sharp, at 2/10/2009 11:44 AM
Ooooo... I would love one of those so we could quit borrowing one!! We make a lot of movies for family and transfer all their old movies to DVD. By dust and kam, at 2/10/2009 12:28 PM
oh man, this converter would be a life saver for me. i went to art school ten years ago and all my old works are on vhs, i would love to transfer them and preserve them and perhaps even re-edit them. i promise to give you a life time of feet massages if i win! my favourite movie is the celebration by tomas vinterberg, which i own on vhs as-well. my favourite tv show is probably peep show, a british comedy.
I would just love have all those VHS tapes compacted and saved from destruction. By Bebemiqui, at 2/10/2009 1:19 PM
favorite feature: converting all my old homemade vhs to dvd is on my list of 25 things to do before 26 on my blog!
My favorite feature is the ability to name the audio tracks. That's just weird.
Wow, brilliant. I have so many old tapes (my senior year dance performance, eek) that I'd love to preserve before they go all wonky on me. By Mom101, at 2/11/2009 5:35 AM
YooHoo! We get to trash the old VHS tapes. My Favorite movie is Willy Wonka. I love all of my family movies!!!!
The easy plug in and transfer would be handy! We have so many VHS tapes that need to be converted... By Superdumb Supervillain, at 2/11/2009 6:26 AM
I like the USB and Wizard feature so that it is dummy proof. By T'aowyn, at 2/11/2009 7:10 AM
I would love to be able to get rid of all my kids VHS tapes!!
What a great invention + I can do it myself instead of paying thousands to a service to convert my family's enormous tape collection from the last 20 years.
My favorite feature is just the thought of being able to convert old vhs tapes to dvds and plus saving room would be an added bonus. By ...team leung..., at 2/11/2009 3:18 PM
Favorite feature: getting rid of the VHS player -- another appliance I hardly use, but I keep around because we have some family tapes. I'd love to convert the family movies to DVD! By melonkelli, at 2/11/2009 5:12 PM
It would be great to clear out the ancient tapes I've been holding onto! By you big baby!, at 2/11/2009 10:52 PM
Fave feature: Reducing my VHS inventory! By RecoveringCoffeeholic, at 2/12/2009 7:54 AM
Sooooooooo cool! Its finally time they came out with a digital video converter that is small, self powered, and simple to use. I'm tired of using my school's. By Dustyn, at 2/12/2009 9:34 PM
My favorite feature would be to introduce my kids to the old tapes of my childhood ballet recitals and school plays- which are covered in dust in grandma's basement. By the king of carrot flowers, at 2/14/2009 6:00 AM
Favorite feature would be getting rid of the boxes of vhs tapes after transferring them. By techyone, at 2/14/2009 6:53 PM
hey modmom, nice rokuing with you. neal
My favorite VHS movie is Ferris Bueller's Day Off since it was the first VHS tape we got when we got a VCR when i was a kid. I still have that tape! and all of our family VHS. By TheGirl, at 2/17/2009 1:10 PM sixteen candles!! Being able to rescue all the memories on VHS would be my favorite feature by far! By TheFunkyFeline, at 2/17/2009 2:26 PM
I would love to digitize all of those Broadway Musicals movies I have on VHS so that I can watch them with my kid ... I grew up singing along with them with my mom, and it would be great to pass on that love of the theater and the music.
Favorite feature - Knowing that we'll still be able to watch all of those family moments, including my great grandmother talking about growing up and raising kids during the depression. By Emilyplays, at 2/18/2009 11:21 PM
This would be fantastic! My favorite feature is that it may also be used on audio cassettes and LPs - I'd love to preserve some of the mixtapes I've made over the years! Favorite movie seems to change often, but lately it's been That Thing You Do!
Oh! What a great invention. I knew it had to happen -- it was only a matter of time. I guess that my favorite feature would be the fact that it's easy to hook up between the VHS player/analog audio player to DVD/CD via USB port. Having something so easy like that would make it easily assessable for those who 1. are not computer-savvy, and 2. don't have the time. By Ward Jenkins, at 2/22/2009 3:41 PM
I love that I can also use this for my LP's. That is so cool. By Carolyn G, at 2/22/2009 9:24 PM
I have literally tons of the vhs this is brilliant. Now they don't have to go to the trash! PLEASE enter me in the drawing.
I have literally tons of the vhs still now they can be saved. I know i just posted but forgot the email address.
My favorite feature would have to be the DVD authoring application complete with professionally designed templates.
I think my favorite feature is the fact how easy it would be to watch the VHS tapes that I currently don't touch. But, a close second is the idea of digitizing a few of my old mix tapes. I just don't have mp3s of all of those songs, and that would be so much fun! By Karen, at 2/25/2009 5:31 AM
My favorite feature would be being able to preserve old vhs tapes (a couple of which have already snapped from age and use) and re-edit them. By beesknees7, at 2/25/2009 7:04 AM
Best Feature: Get rid of all those VHS. By Nica, at 2/25/2009 9:25 PM What a great idea! I would love to make more room in our media cupboard without having to rebuy our favorite movies in DVD format, and I would love to save some of the kids favorites from when they were little. Right now our son is really into Star Wars which we have 1/2 on VHS and 1/2 on DVD. By Donna, at 2/27/2009 2:59 PM This product is my dream come true. I especially like its simplicity and its capability of converting so many different media formats into safe, accessible storage. We have videos of our kids' musical theater performances, as well as collections of LPs and VHS movies. I have lots of favs. The VHS my hubby and I watch annually is Keeping the Faith. All those characters have such charisma and the sappy plot just feels good. By booky, at 2/28/2009 12:27 PM That's a nice hardware for you to watch your old VHS tapes. And that's a great idea by the way. By modern living room furniture, at 6/29/2009 7:26 AM I like the USB and Wizard feature so that it is dummy proof. By Deals Hunt, at 9/17/2009 1:21 AM
The best feature it's that it's a way to save our home videos on new technology. Gets rid of the fear of losing treasure memories. By Unknown, at 2/03/2010 4:34 PM
