I need this tooo Mod*Mom :)

I have fallen off my dieting wagon over the holidays and the only exercise I'm getting is chasing my kids. I'm really enjoying the Whole Foods podcasts. I love the experts.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/08/2008 12:23 AM

I am looking forward to this series, hoping it will give me the info and the BOOST I need to follow through with getting healthier.
Whole foods always has great info on their podcast blog! I posted a comment under "The Skinny on Weight Loss" and will be waiting anxiously for the next two in the series. Thanks again Mod Mom!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/08/2008 7:09 AM

I still wish we had Whole Foods here, or at least online shopping! Interesting podcast. You always hear the terms associated with nutrition and weight loss, it's good to have them explained.

By Blogger Superdumb Supervillain, at 1/08/2008 8:11 AM

I love these podcasts. They help me with nutrition and tips on how to lose weight. I would love to hear more :)

By Blogger dodo, at 1/08/2008 10:27 AM

Hello, I liked to first podcast the best! It was called "The Skinny on Weight Loss!" It gave me good ideas on how to begin a weight-loss program. The B-Vitamins,Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium and Water are essential. These help the metabolism and digestive system. Thanks,Cindi

Dear Mod Mom, I just listened to the whole foods pod cast and loved the info! Thanks for directing me there!

Hope you are doing well!!!!

Cooking Accomplished! has been a great find for myself and several of my friends. The concept is simple; you go online, pick the entrees you want and the date you want to assemble them. The difference between Cooking Accomplished! and several other businesses like this in Portland, is quality! The owner is a trained chef. They have a commercial kitchen where all the ingredients are prepped by Shelley and her staff. Many of my friends, prior to joining me for meal assembly sessions at Cooking Accomplished!, admitted to serving and eating frozen or pre-cooked meals several times a week and to dining out two or three times a week. We decided since we are worried about nutritional value and using quality local ingredients we would research meal assembly as a solution to reducing time spent shopping and preparing dinners with the goal of eating healthier. The only assemble-your-own meal company that we found in Portland, that had great selections, high quality local ingredients and prepped all their food in-house is CookingAccomplished! in Lake Oswego. Since I started preparing meals at CookingAccomplished! I've also signed up for a couple of great cooking classes. My son attended a kids class as well and he can't wait until the next one. Shelley has done a fantastic job of creating a quality experience!

I listened to The Skinny on Weight Loss and it had more impact on me than I thought - not just saying to myself "I need to eat better and lose weight."

By Blogger phxbne, at 1/09/2008 2:50 PM

By Blogger mod*mom, at 1/09/2008 8:54 PM

thanks somuch ModMom for linking us to the Wholefood podcasts! I really spent the time to listen to all 3 podcasts and all were very informative. It really hit home when on the explanation of the homeopathy product OScillo he explained that they help to reduce the duration and the severity of the flu and cold symptoms... and ont he diet and wellness pods, i was reminded(once again) about stepping up my water consumption and also that it is extremely important to get the digestive and metabolic system going right in order for good health, which leads to proper weight... THANKS For the links and the contest! Supplements and healthy food form WHOLEFOODS market are one of the greatest gifts you could give us!

By Blogger ProjectHope7, at 1/11/2008 9:10 AM

I love how we can use natural items to fight off disease and sickness...like yogurt!

I HEART Whole Foods! I really liked all the information presented. I earned something new! I didn't know that probiotics, thermogenics, and lipotrophics can assist with weight loss. Thanks!

jasonncaryn at yahoo dot com

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/12/2008 6:56 PM

I listened to all three and I love the info. I heard the podcast on ocillo too late and was sick with a bug for over a month. I gave it to my hubby when he first started to feel sick and he only had a touch of it for 3 days! It really worked! How great it is to hear about a product that delivers. I like the new podcast because it goes more in depth about a healthy weight loss rather than the junk you hear everywhere else. Bravo to Whole Foods and a big thank you mod*mom for bringing it to us
a very greatful reader!

By Blogger Unknown, at 1/12/2008 10:13 PM

Hmmm, well I liked the first podcast...I'm assuming they'll have the other 2 up soon. Do you want us to leave you a comment as well as there for every podcase we listen to? Or just this one comment?

By Blogger Bebemiqui, at 1/15/2008 6:22 PM

bebemequi: the other 2 podcasts should be posted soon, + i hope you'll listen/comment to them too.
i'm not sure when to expect the next 2 podcasts. it's supposed to to 1 entry per podcast + i'll pool all the comment entries, then pick 3 winners, so you have more chances if you comment on all 3.

By Blogger mod*mom, at 1/15/2008 8:29 PM

antonina: only 1 podcast is up so far. i'm glad you listened to 2 of the cold/flu podcasts + the oscillo helped your hubby :)

By Blogger mod*mom, at 1/15/2008 8:31 PM

Thanks for the heads on the Whole Foods podcast - I am listening to all of them - I started with the cleansing one and now am going all the way down to the going back to school - probiotics - totally need to know more about that! Bring on the healthy changes - I know a lot about fruits and veggies and how wonderful they are and I know about a lot of foods to avoid - but there's so much more to being healthy than that - thanks for telling me about this education opportunity...

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/23/2008 10:41 AM

I just listened to part one since I'm trying to lose 54 lbs! There were a few things I didn't know such as needing probiotics for weight loss.

By Blogger Taryn, at 1/24/2008 1:46 PM

I really enjoyed listening to these podcasts! I was a little sad to find out that lack of quality sleep affects your weight!!!! Too bad since I have 3 young kids...

By Blogger Tarasview, at 1/24/2008 2:00 PM

The Skinny on Weight Loss provided me with great information which I will use. Thanks for the podcasts which are helpful and useful everyday.

By Blogger anne, at 1/24/2008 2:14 PM

I have actually incorporated a few of the recommendations on the podcast already. Thanks for the info. Here's to a happy and healthy 2008!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/24/2008 2:31 PM

I must say that all the podcast had and have very good information. I was however disapponted in the very last one that was posted. I was hoping for more information on the cleanse that they were talking about. I felt that more information would have been beneficial, it left me wanting more clarification on what was introduced in that podcast

By Blogger Unknown, at 1/25/2008 2:26 PM

I've checked out the first podcast, and I found out some cool stuff! Cinnamon!

I listened over at Whole Foods. And left my feedback. We're suppose to be getting a Whole Foods in my area and I'm thrilled. I've missed them so much since leaving Los Angeles.

By Blogger Fiddledeedee, at 1/28/2008 1:07 PM

I need all the help I can get and this seems to be a much easier way to get healthy than what I have tried in the past!

By Blogger Heather, at 1/28/2008 1:35 PM

Very interesting podcasts, though I'd have liked more details ;-)

I liked most the second part and the recommendations especially getting back to unprocessed foods, foods actually full of nutrients and avoid things that increase hunger as corn syrup, gmo foods, nitrates etc.

I'll soon give birth to my 3rd child and could sure use a little boost to drop off the weight ;-)

i really like whole foods and their podcasts!!! I would REALLY like to win this because i am a poor college students who can't afford organics :(

By Blogger Jaimie, at 1/28/2008 9:42 PM

I listened to the How to Achieve Weightloss podcast. While it was informative, it was a bit frustrating how the guest speaker kept pushing his organic food bars. It takes away from some of what he's saying imo.

I love Whole Foods and would love the opportunity to win the gift basket. Thank you!

What a great promotion! I love Whole Foods - as our son is Celiac and must be gluten-free. I had no idea that they had a blog or any idea that they were doing podcasts! Thanks for introducing them to me!

I liked their first one, the 'skinny on weight'. I've been trying to loose weight, unsuccessfully, and this gave me some good information to talk about with my Doc.

Thanks ModMom!

By Blogger Teri, at 1/29/2008 6:20 PM

Oh yes! Pretty please! I'm almost 60 and 30 pounds overweight (on a five-foot-two frame). I have high blood pressure to boot, and organic foods would be a blessing for me, but with my VERY limited budget, it's not possible to buy them.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/29/2008 6:27 PM

These Pod cast will help me lose these last few baby pounds! My son is 9 months old so its time to get serious and lose it! I would love to try organic and stick with it though!

By Blogger natasha, at 1/29/2008 6:46 PM

What great podcasts! it's so great to have a resource to direct other people to in order to share the wealth of information! we need to take better care of our bodies, as a nation, and thanks to places such as whole foods who are working hard to get the information out, there is no excuse for not being more actively involved in getting healthy!

By Blogger Chandler, at 1/29/2008 7:17 PM

I have heard such great things about Whole Foods. I have never been to one since there are none in my state!!

I checked out the podcast The Skinny on Weight Loss! I have a MP3 and can download this to it and listen in the car. This is great! Thanks for hosting!

By Blogger Jennifer (mom of four), at 1/29/2008 7:39 PM

I enjoyed the podcasts and felt like I learned alot of new information. I had heard a little about cleansing but didn't really feel very well informed. The podcasts really helped educate me about cleansing. I also learned that diet food lacking nutrients will actually cause me to eat more. This surprised me and really opened my eyes about diet foods! I also really appreciate the information about Probiotics and digestive health.

By Blogger Lisa Garner, at 1/29/2008 8:28 PM

I listened to the Liver and Weight Loss Pod-cast and I'm ashamed to say that I didn't know anything about what the liver actually did! But, this really helped me to see how important it is to cleanse the liver from toxins that accumulate over time. I look forward to listening to the rest of them!

By Blogger Unknown, at 1/29/2008 11:45 PM

I. Love. Whole Foods! However, it's very dangerous for me to go there because I end up spending $125 on 4 bags of groceries, ouch! Thank you for the most fabulous giveaway. Off to check out the podcasts!

By Blogger runlikeagrrl, at 1/30/2008 4:37 AM

Wow great podcasts, I'm glad I finally got around to listening to them. What really hit home was the part about drinking more water, there are days I can go without drinking any...I really need to start watching myself!

By Blogger PS, at 1/30/2008 6:27 AM

I commented on Part 2: How to Achieve your Weight Goals. I found it very informative. I am going to reading labels more than ever. Sigh. I already have to read practically everything because I'm allergic to artificial sweeteners and those are in everything, even non-diet, non-sugar-free stuff. I was irked when Wrigleys decided to change their formula and put that stuff in all their chewing gum. Bleah.

I've heard so many positive things about Whole Foods!

By Blogger Melanie, at 1/30/2008 8:26 AM

I listened to the first podcast and would like to come back when I get a few more minutes and listen to the other two. I learned a number of things, just from this introductory one, that I never knew about weightloss before, especially the foods and plants that can help you flush fat from your system.

I did leave a comment on the site, but out of force of habit I put in my website address, so I went back and reposted with the link you gave.

I would love to be entered to win this giveaway. We shop at Whole Foods all of the time and love so many of their products.

My goal is to live healthier in 2008. I think corn syrup in the root of all evil.

I'm impressed with the creditials of those speaking on the podcasts. I wish I could keep in my head all they know.

Thanks!

By Blogger Unknown, at 2/01/2008 9:19 AM

Seems to be a good series. Thanks for the info!

By Blogger Angela, at 2/01/2008 1:51 PM

The podcasts are great. Nice to get free health info!

By Blogger Emily, at 2/01/2008 2:55 PM

It's too bad Whole Foods has joined up with the anti-fat hysteria. Every bit of science has shown that a Health At Every Size approach is the one that will lead to greater longevity and that most of the health problems associated with "obesity" are actually caused by the fact that fat people in our culture are ashamed and try to lose weight. In cultures where they don't, fat people have very few of the health problems we associate with being large. I hope people will look up information on Health At Every Size. It's scientifically (and ethically) sound, but I hadn't hear of it until I began my doctoral work in health psychology.

By Blogger Virginia, at 2/01/2008 4:43 PM

I enjoyed the podcast I listened to and learned a lot about fiber in my diet.
