house of the future :: part 1 (kitchen of the future) house of the future :: part 2 (bathroom of the future) house of the future in disneyland's tomorrowland :: 1957–1967 (a free attraction sponsored by monsanto to showcase their plastic products) a walk-through tour of a 1,280 sf plastic house with plastic furnishings + fascinating modern appliances such as dishwashers, microwave, intercom system + closets filled with polyester clothes. the house was made from 8 prefabricated white plastic sections with large windows + was anchored to a solid concrete foundation that was earthquake rated. the house consisted of a central square room with 4 wings. the kitchen + bathroom were in the center + each wing had 1 room: master bedroom, children’s bedroom, dining room, living room. each wing was made of fiberglass modules placed 1 on top of the other to form the ceiling, floor, + wall. the remaining 2 walls were windows. 60,000+ guests toured + were awed by the home each week.. via daveland by ~mod*mom~ at 27.12.07 © 7 Comments:yummy!
