• 15 CPSC inspectors at ports nationwide inspect all imported products

i saw the democratic presidential debate on cnn tonight
+ candidates were asked about this topic + none of them mentioned strengthening the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)
obama said we need to pass rules like japan has about inspecting imports from china.
hillary clinton said she was going to put a hold on all imports until they "look at the matter of what can be done"
biden said, what are they talking about, we have rules in nafta + we need to enforce them.
none of them mentioned strengthening the CPSC + adding inspectors.

Thank you so much for writing about this issue. It's serious-- WE are the consumers the Consumer Product Safety Commission is supposed to protect, but it seems like they're looking out for the best interests of big business. Let's hope people can come together to demand better! (MomsRising.org is working on this.)

I completely agree! We were talking abou this at work and I'm sure it would be mindblowing if a random analysis across the import spectrum was done. I WILL NOT buy Sf toys that are made in China. PERIOD.

At this point, if our own government won't protect us, WE have to.
