So many memories from the Nut Tree... I was terribly sad when they tore it all down. :( It was definitely a moment in time... as you can tell from your great photos!

I used to visit the Nut Tree, too! Remember all the birds? It was such a great place.

i remember the nut tree, and the giant rocking horses, i used to play on them after dinner, we would stop there on our way home from trips at the snow sometimes.

i loved the nut tree! i was so sad to see it was torn down.

i have fond memories of my brother not sharing a black licorice 'tar bar' from the candy shop. and i loved their assortment of shells for sale in the gift shop.

my kids will never have the pleasure...

Oh my gosh!! I have a picture of my brothers and sister and I on those horses!! (pretty sure they're the same ones!) We used to always go to the Coffee Tree. I do think we went to the Nut Tree a few times (would have been more appropriate to our family tree anyways...) ;^P

Imagine my dismay when I wanted to take my kids to the Coffee Tree a few years ago, about an hour before our scheduled arrival at Grandma's house after a three day drive from Canada, when I found that my beloved vintage 60's restaurant was a pile of rubble. I almost burst out crying. But I was too hungry to cry about anything other than how hungry I was. We ended up going to the Mexican food place that is now very near to said former pile of rubble. (I was so bummed my place with all those phone booths and lollipops and pink taffy was gone. Good Mexican food we did enjoy though.)
