we LOVE our boon potty bench. mod*tot also uses it as a step stool to get in + out of the tub + brush her teeth at the sink + she empties it into the toilet.
at nursery school they have 3 side by side miniature toilets in one big unisex bathroom, so who knows what they see. this morning i walked into our bathroom barefoot + stepped onto a warm wet spot on the throw rug next to her potty bench. i asked her if she spilled while emptying the potty. she said "no, i was standing up like william from school. he has a rocket."

I love this seat....I need this seat! I have a 28 month old who won't even look at the toilet. He would love this!
ReplyDeleteCan i potty on that seat?!? How cool looking! I have a 16 month old that i'm slowly introducing to the potty. When i ask her if she wants to poopoo in the potty she goes stand by the toilet (fully clothed) and pottys in her diaper. Don't touch her while shes there, though, or she'll scream.

ReplyDeleteI really can't say enough good things about this. First off, it's the best-looking potty seat out there. Secondly, it functions as a stepstool for toothbrushing or a place for parents to sit while bathing the kiddo. Third, you can put it in the car for road trips. If I had my way, we'd have one in every room of the house...
ReplyDeleteMy 16 month old son, has been watching his older sister and I a bit to closely. I found him in the bathroom fully dressed sitting on the closed toilet seat. He took a piece of toilet paper, wiped, and hopped down with the biggest smile on his face, LOL!
ReplyDeleteMy 2.5 year old daughter sits on her potty sometimes for over an hour, watching PBS and eating crackers. Unfortunately she usually pees about 5 minutes after getting up. This potty bench is fresh! (and it looks like it could prevent that big circle impression on my daughters butt :)
ReplyDeleteLove that seat! This last November, my 3 year old son finally potty-trained. I was so thrilled and relieved that I would have at least a year before really thinking about it with my daughter (now 14 months). And then, just three months later at my daughter's one-year check up, the pediatrician had the gall to ask if I was working on potty-training with my daughter. I just laughed at her... but I guess it will come soon enough!

ReplyDeleteI am hoping potty training is right around the corner for our 21 month old because finding her in her crib every morning sans clothing and diaper and sitting in a pee puddle is getting old really quick.

ReplyDeleteLast night after her bath, I put my 19 month old daughter on the potty and we sat there and read some books and sat and sat and waited and waited. She said,"all done!" closed the lid, sat back down, and peed all over the potty. I think we need to have a little review session.

ReplyDeleteOur diapering experience has been pretty mild except for a bout with rotavirus- and that is simply too horrific to detail here.

ReplyDeleteWell, we started with cloth and it was great, but then found gDiapers and we were in heaven!! I just love the fact that you could do cloth or a flushable with this system.
Ooh, I'd love this. Just this week my 22 mo started saying "Poop? Toilet? Try?" But when I brought her there, I think she freaked out about falling in. Yeah, maybe my arse is a bit bigger than hers and she could use something more her speed...
ReplyDeleteWe are currently in full diaper mode with a 2 year old boy and a 5 month old girl. I feel like I am buying diapers every couple of days. My son has started telling us when he has to go but is terrified of the actual toilet so I'm hoping a potty bench is in his very near future!
ReplyDeletethe thing i didn't realize about potty training is that it goes on for years. just because they catch on doesn't mean they will not relapse and go through phases. and its ok if your girl wants to wear spiderman underwear (backwards to see the graphics) instead of flowers and butterflies. boys briefs actually fit better. i'll be starting with my second kid in two weeks. would love to have this seat!

ReplyDeleteMy girls were just ready - no anecdotes to tell, really. I'm pregnant with triplets now and it will be awhile before I'll need a seat like that, but how cool!

ReplyDeletePotty training my son was like poop camp :) I set the timer in the kitchen + every 20 minutes I put him on the potty. We had accidents of all kinds, but the next day, he went on the potty... and from there he has not looked back!
ReplyDeleteNow I am trying to potty train my daughter who is 2.5. Whenever I even mention the word Potty... she yells, "NO." and then runs from me.
This seat doesn't look threatening at all and it's just beautiful. {did i just call a potty, beautiful??} What a great addition this would be in our house! This might get her on track to being potty trained.. i mean, how could you not want to use it??
ella's latest thing is tearing off shreds of toilet paper, tearing them into much smaller pieces, then stuffing each piece down between her legs while sitting on the potty.

ReplyDeleteI have nine children, eight of them already potty-trained, so I will just tell you the most memorable potty-training experience. My oldest (now 15) would NOT potty-train for anything! We knew she *could*, but we couldn't find anything to motivate her to do so (I don't know WHERE she gets that stubborn-ness ;))
Anyway, we were at the store one day and she wanted Barney underwear. We told her no, since she didn't use the potty, we couldn't buy them, after all, we couldn't have her "peeing on Barney". The thought of peeing on Barney, her hero, horrified her. She convinced us to buy the underwear, and was potty-trained from that day on.

ReplyDeleteIts been a while for potty training for me - my daughter is 6. But she was super easy. We just made being a "big girl" a HUGE deal. She went with it. But I have a new son on the way (any day now) and I would totally love this product. I have a feeling he wont be as easy!!! I love all of the boon stuff - specially their toy scoop.
ReplyDeleteMy little son sees the potty see as some fantastic play thing that he can become engrossed in with the tedious activity of pullin down his little shorts. He's so cute while playing with the lid that I can't help but laugh at how long it takes us to fulfill the intended task!

ReplyDeleteI was showing my husband this potty seat just the other day. Of course our 7 month old daughter is many months away from needing it. Instead I would give it to my sister to help with her three year old son who is more than happy to stick with diapers.

ReplyDeleteI hate to say that although my daughter was an early talker and walker she was a later potty trainer. She was 39 months old yesterday and this is her sixth week of using the potty. I just think we weren't ready because when we decided we had to do it no matter what she has had only ONE accident. She could definitely use this for a stool until her brother due in 7 weeks is ready to give it a go.
ReplyDeleteMy first is due in a few weeks, so I have no stories to tell yet... I do want to try to train my girl early as they do in Asia. My husband and a close friend both have recollections of their moms making a shhhh sound while holding them over the potty to help them associate when it's time to go.

We have used elimination communication since my son was around three months old. At eighteen months he has an accident maybe once or twice a week and uses the potty the remaining time. He even wears training pants almost exclusively. I started by making the sounds (ssss, or ppfffftttt) when he was elminating, then sitting him on the potty when he could sit up on his own and I also know when he needs to go--after a nap, before bedtime, etc. It's been wonderful and I love not changing as many diapers!

My favorite moment? When my child ran around naked with glee in her voice- Mommy, I had an accident, and I'm NAKED! Apparently there are some perks to peeing on yourself...
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love this potty!! My little one is trying to decide if he wants to be like Daddy and go in the toilet, but the big potty scares him to death! I love that this potty is so small and that it folds so that it's not taking up the whole bathroom while it's not in use. It's a definite winner in my book!

ReplyDeletehows this for potty training...I asked my 27 month old if she needed to go...she had that "face"... and we hurried and got her on the potty and she pooped on command! We responded with "horray's" and chocolate chips...her external motivation. Our 15 month old little boy likes to be like his sister, and usually gets on the potty too, fully clothed, for a little attention. This time, he took his diaper off, and once I realized it, changed him, and went on our merry way...only to find 20 min later a pile of poop on our dark colored rug in the living room. Oh to think if I had stepped in that! Way to bee like sister!
ReplyDeleteI love that seat! I have a almost 4 year old who we just BARELY got potty trained after just over a year of trying. Potty training him for #1 was easy...it was #2 that was the hard part. Maybe if he had a fun, non scary seat like that one it would have gone better. I now have a 8 month old that could truely benefit from that seat when the time comes!

ReplyDeleteI have successfully potty learned 5 children, but my 6th child refuses to give in. I think I will never win! She started with painting her crib with poop, EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. for about a year. She paints our walls, her toys, herself. But the kicker was the poop figurines she made and decorated my stair railings with one day.
ReplyDeleteI love this potty seat because of the footstool. Once my dd finally gives in, she can still use it as a stool until my 7th little guy is old enough to potty learn. Though he may be done before her at this rate.
Luckly, my oldest was potty-trained at 2 and 1 month (with some accidents after). I am starting to give my son the idea of going in the potty (just sitting on it)--19 months. I don't have a clue on how to teach boys! One of my girlfriends had a daughter who was "panty-trained" What is that, you ask? She wore undies until she had to go 1 or 2, she's tell her mom, then mom would put a diaper on her and she'd go. She was scared of the toilet. Worst of both worlds--you had to pay for underwear and diapers (not to mention you still had to change the diapers with "man poop.")
